About

Mylène Freeman served as the New Democrat MP for Argenteuil-Papineau-Mirabel during the 41st Parliament, from 2011 to 2015. During this time, she held most notably the roles of Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet Critic for the Status of Women and Chair of the Women’s Caucus.

In addition, Mylène served as Vice-Chair of the Canadian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (CAPPD), as a member of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development and a member of the all-party Aerospace Caucus.

As an MP, she distinguished herself by working for women’s rights and by being highly accessible to the citizens in her riding.

Prior to her election, Mylène was a Student Fellow at the Research Group on Constitutional Studies (RGCS) at McGill and worked as a Research Assistant in Political Theory. She was a Coordinator of the Women in House program at McGill in 2009. Mylène is a McGill BA’11, with a major in Political Science and minors in Philosophy and World Religions.

Mylène has federal campaign experience dating to 2007, either as an organizer or as a candidate. She also ran for Borough Councilor of the constituency Claude-Ryan in Montréal in 2009.
